redneck white boy hiker needs new gearView Messages“I only use Petzl - reliability is key for me. BD carries its batteries at the back of the head; a bummer in your sleeping bag. I've seen P-Tecs warp in extreme cold (cold weather performence is always foremost in this Canuck's mind) and become impossible to turn on or off. Petzl 2's are lithium compatible and you can leave them year-round in your car and they're ready to perform whenever and wherever you need them - just remeber to change the batteries every ten years.” 10:34:16 AM 2/16/12 “The BD Spot has 3 AAA's in front. I refuse to use those headlamps with a battery pack on the back of your head. I use an old Petzl Tikka XP with a single 1W LED. It rocks all the way up Mt. Rainier, but if I had to replace it I'd get a BD Spot.” 11:54:50 AM 2/16/12 “I get the batteries on the back of the head thang, but I don't sleep in my headlamp so for me personally it's a non issue...and at the temps we get in Alabammy, Freezing is also a non issue.....” 6:59:37 AM 2/17/12
