“I am not a great fan of spectators sport, but this weekend I watched the Wok Racing World Championship in Germany. Who thought that a tunned and pimped chinese sauce pan can reach speeds up to 100 km/h? Wiki: [...]Modified Chinese woks are used to make timed runs down an Olympic bobsled track. There are competitions for one-person-woksleds and four-person-woksleds, the latter using four woks per sled [...] The typical racing woks are the ordinary round-bottomed Chinese pans, usually directly imported from China. The only modifications are that the bottom is reinforced with an epoxy filling and the edges of the wok are coated with polyurethane foam to avoid injuries. Four-person woksleds consist of two pairs of woks, each of them is held together by a rounded frame. The two pairs are connected by a coupling. Due to the rather risky nature of the sport the participants wear heavy protective gear, usually similar to ice hockey equipment. To further reduce friction and the risk of injuries, the athletes wear ladles under their feet. To improve performance, the underside of the woks are often heated with a blowlamp before the race ![]() ”1:06:05 PM 3/22/10 “http://www.myvideo.ch/watch/3617423/Georg_Hackl_Wok_WM_1_lauf_8_3_2008 The run of George Hackl "The Ice Channel Rat".” 1:16:02 PM 3/22/10 “Is that Clark Griswold?” 1:30:17 PM 3/22/10 “LOL @ Mutt... hahahahahaaaaaa” 1:37:48 PM 3/22/10 ultimate tazerball 10:54:39 PM 2/11/12 “Reminds me of how we used to 'borrow' all the cafeteria trays on the rare occasion of snow at my Southwestern college to go 'sled' down the hill behind the Student Union on them. I feel like any minute, Bluto is gonna slide past in a wok full of beer wearing a toga at the front of the Delta Tau Chi four-man sled.” 1:04:35 AM 2/12/12 “Ok I'm taking a taxer to our next kickball game.... Won't be seeing Tazer Ball in Canada soon...Tazers are illegal here. Wok sleding...much harder than bobsleds since they don't have runners.” 8:50:48 PM 2/14/12 “This Saturday: The Wok-WM 2012!
